WWE Money in the Bank 2012 DVD Review

WWE DVD Review – Money In The Bank 2012 For years the MITB concept was the highlight of WWE events. Now that the innovative match has been given its own PPV we can enjoy it even more. The idea behind MITB is simple a match winner gets to grab a case and in that he has a shot at the World Title (which can be cashed in at anytime). The MITB matches have been the ones that have elevated many of the WWE's current stars and made them real stars for the company. This DVD release by Silvervision is a nice addition to the calendar and one that really does warrant a second or third viewing. The opening scrap between Hunico/Comancho and Kofi Kingston/R-Truth is an entertaining effort. Next up the MITB Ladder Match revs things up and gives us an insight into the excitement a match of this style can offer up. Dolph Ziggler, Christian and Cody Rhodes stood out here and gave their all in the spot-fest that ensued. The world Heavyweight Title was up for grabs next and it featured Ireland's own Sheamus (champion) battling his long-term thorn in his side Alberto Del Rio. Sheamus is indeed improving and Del Rio is a man so talented that he could get a good match out of anyone. This is well worth a punt. Unfortunately for your review the Titus O'Neil/Darren Young and Primo/Epico bout didn't float my boat. The addition of R-Truth and Kofi on commentary did help but. As a big fan of Daniel Bryan I don't wish to be biased here. Suffice to say that the NO DQ match between him and CM Punk is a real highlight of MITB 2012 for me. Viewers will see exactly why when they view it again. Ryback continued his 'Goldberg' style run next with a decimation of Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins in a swift encounter. The two-on-one odds proving to be not a huge deal to the big man. The Diva's got their chance to shine next and whilst the division is knocked often for its poor talent the ladies here were mostly above par. The teams of Layla, Kaitly, Tamina and Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Eve featured at least four good workers. This may be a short match, but it is fun. Up next we get the MITB Ladder match for the WWE Title shot. The name value hee alone makes this worth watching. When you factor in Kane, Chris Jericho, Big Show, John Cena and The Miz you know you are in for something special and this one is indeed. The finish may be popular knowledge by now, but that cannot ruin the encounter. MITB 2012 is a great DVD and one that will sit nicely alongside your collection. The matches are mostly above par and the action throughout will certainly keep you entertained. MITB 2012 is available now from www.silvervision.co.uk and all good retailers. By Phil Allely

Chris Jericho Interview with Phil Allely

Chris Jericho Interview

By Phil Allely

Former WWE superstar Chris Jericho is currently in the UK on tour with his rock band Fozzy, our very own Phil Allely caught up with Chris to chat about what he and Fozzy have been up to over the past year, his wrestling plans and much more.

‘I’m not a big fan of reality TV shows, but I was tempted with the offer to host WWE’s Tough Enough. So it could have been me there fronting it instead of Steve (Austin), but dancing with the Stars came up and I couldn’t do both. It would have been cool to do it. Steve’s awesome on it though and he’s made it his own, I’m glad it’s got a second series. People ask if I’d be a trainer on the show (like) Trish, Booker and a Bill. But that’s not me really. Hosting is a different matter, I’m game for that. I’d love to do another game show or other things, I’ve plenty of interests and lots to explore in showbiz.’

Every month or so the rumour of a Jericho return to the WWE rears its head. As one of the most high profile freelancers in the business the former multiple time world champion could have his pick of wrestling organisation, if he so desired to return to the ring.

‘I mean there have always been rumours about me, people want to see me back in the ring. I’m not against going back I’m busy elsewhere though, at present I have no plans to appear for the WWE. I’d not do a one-off I don’t believe in that, if I never go back I’m fine with that, I’d want to come back for a reason and make it a long run. I’m either in or out, no one shot deals or false starts. My loyalties are with the WWE though, so I’ll not be turning up in TNA or doing a Japan show. I don’t see the sense on going somewhere else when I have worked for the best.’

WWE’s most ambitious storyline yet is the year-long build up to the Rock versus John Cena encounter planned for WrestleMania. Would a match of that magnitude on the table have persuaded Jericho to step back into the ring we wondered?

‘That’s a tough call, I maybe would have gone for a spot like that, but I’d have not really went for a short time deal. I mean Rock is only doing a handful of appearances between then and Mania. I’ve always been a bit radical, so I’d make a deal like that suit, Rock and Cena will be fun to watch, it’s a long drawn out thing though. Maybe a bit too long, I’m not sure? You know in all honesty in my 2009-2010 run I think I was at my career best, so if I never wrestle again I have no regrets’.

Acclaimed author Jericho has also signed a new deal for a third book based on his career, this as yet unnamed title will look at the period from 2007 to the present days, taking in his return to the WWE and his tours with Fozzy.

Chris Jericho and Fozzy involved in Bus Accident

by Phil Allely

Chris Jericho’s band Fozzy was involved in an automobile accident this week in Europe. The tour bus they were traveling on skidded on two wheels for fifty feet, resulting in the side door being torn off. The former WWE Superstar and his band mates are said to be fine, they have however cancelled a scheduled appearance inn Denmark.

In a statement about the incident Jericho commented “Last night as I was riding on the Anthrax bus, Fozzy’s bus was in an accident. The band is ok thank God, but the bus is trashed so we won’t be able to play the show in Denmark. Hamburg is still on but. Its a miracle nobody got hurt, as the bus skidded on two wheels for 50 feet and the side door was completely torn off. Say a prayer for the boys and stay tuned for more info.'

Fozzy have recently made hugely successful appearances at event and festivals across Europe. Jericho is currently a much talked about figure in wrestling as specualtion rises as to when he will inevitably return to the WWE.

Exclusive New Chris Jericho Interview

Exclusive New Chris Jericho Interview

By Phil Allely

Former WWE wrestler Chris Jericho is as well known today for fronting rock band FOZZY as he is for performing amazing moves in the ring across the globe. After many years of dedication to the music business FOZZY are now becoming a household name and a band that are sought after for festivals and other high profile events. The band are currently preparing for the biggest gig of their career at the Sonisphere festival this Summer. Phil Allely caught up with Chris once again to ask how much opportunities like this and their regular UK/Tours mean to him and his band.

Phil: Chris last time we spoke you were on a lengthy UK/Ireland tour, the crowd in Belfast (where I saw you) seemed a very pumped up one, is that usual for UK shows?

Chris: You know that was a great tour for us. We have always considered the UK and Ireland as our second home. That is why we are looking forward to coming back in June and July. We are really looking forward to our shows this time even more so, we’ve been planning them for months. We all can’t wait to get back.

Phil: You said previously to myself that UK/Irish fans were very enthusiastic ones, even more so than U.S. ones, it that still the case?

Chris: Yes, for whatever reason, UK/Irish fans have always embraced us and that’s why we come over as much as we do, and yes we do indeed find that the crowds get a little crazier each time. Which as performers make each performance all the more special.

Phil: So what can we expect at your UK gigs this Summer, have you any tricks up your sleeve, will there be any new tracks for us to savour?

Chris: Well we are still digging playing songs from Chasing The Grail and even though we are working on a new record, we will save the new tunes for when we come back at the end of the year.

Phil: How does it feel to be on the bill for one of the UK’s most eagerly anticipated rock festivals this year? As we all know by now FOZZY will be joining a host of other renowned acts at Sonisphere at Knebworth this coming July.

Chris: It is very gratifying for us to be included on the bill for an event like this, especially after 11 years of recording and touring. To be on the same stage as Metallica, Slipknot, Anthrax etc. is why we have kept working so hard on FOZZY. We are really looking forward to tearing the house down.

Phil: Is this a dream gig for FOZZY? Will you have to raise your game on stage due to the magnitude of the event?

Chris: Of course it is. It’s a dream come true every time you get to perform on a legendary event, this will be our biggest gig to date. With that said, FOZZY play the same every night whether it’s Sonisphere or the West Coast in Margate, every gig is an honour so we are going to make sure our fans have a great time and see a great show.

Phil: Are there any of the bands on the Sonisphere bill who you personally wish to see?

Chris: For me personally I think Metallica always have an amazing show, so that’s one, but then there are also bands like Motorhead, Anthrax and Megadeth who will surely rock the place. They all bring something special to the fans and have their place in music history.

Phil: Chris you recently appeared on U.S. TV show Dancing with the Stars, did you enjoy your time on that and has it helped raise yours and FOZZYs profile?

Chris: Oh yeah, I had a blast, anytime you can do a show that 23 million people watch and have your band mentioned on it you can’t go wrong. I knew (when I signed up for dancing with the Stars) that it would help raise the profile of Chris Jericho and FOZZY and take the band to the next level.

Phil: Touching on wrestling briefly, I did want to ask you how you can seemingly juggle dual careers successfully when so many others in the same shoes have failed?

Chris: I guess it’s because I have a passion for both professions. I didn’t wake up one day and decide I was going to play in a band. As a kid I wanted to be in a band and I wanted to be a wrestler, and to this day I still have that passion for both. Being a wrestler is part of who I am, so is being a member of a rock band.

Phil: So I’m guessing with the success of FOZZY and your other projects we will have to wait a while to see you in a WWE ring?

Chris: I’m not really concerned about that right now. I am just focusing on FOZZY at present, so we’ll have to see about that. After 11 years of working hard we have more momentum that ever, it is now time to take advantage of that.

Phil: So what’s next for FOZZY?

Chris: We are touring all summer, hoping to go to Japan for the first time this fall and return home to tour the U.S. also. Then we’ll be recording our new record in September/October, for release early next year.

Phil: Well thanks so much for your time Chris, good luck for Sonisphere and your upcoming UK shows. Will we be seeing FOZZY on Irish shores anytime soon?

Chris: I’d like to think we’ll be back there before the end of the year. Keep visiting our official website for those tour details and updates on our new album. www.fozzyrock.com

New JRs BBQ highlights Jim Ross

Jim Ross is back with another blog over on jrsbarbq.com. As usual, here are some of the highlights:

- Hopefully, Cole and I did not overly offend too many of you wrestling purists with our 'exhibition' Monday night. It earned the top quarter hour TV rating on the program for the night and that distinction has already been throughly analyzed by those who earn a living covering the genre. Lots of ways for that data to be dissected one can argue.

- My right hand is somewhat banged up and the x-rays were not overly encouraging Tuesday but it won't keep me from doing what I need to do on Sunday at Extreme Rules.

- Cole's tooth went to the bone on a knuckle on my right hand which caused bleeding from my hand and his lip for those that have asked. Apparently the risk of infection from a human tooth IE a bite or something like what occurred Monday night is potentially harmful so we've been very careful with the infection aspect of the 'wound' in addition to caring for a sore hand.

- Interesting that WWE Raw defeated both NBA playoff games Monday night in the TV ratings race. Based on NBA rights fees, WWE is a bargain for USA Network based on the ratings the program has earned year after year. One of those NBA games featured was my OKC Thunder.

- Congrats to Chris Jericho for his amazing run on DWTS on ABC. @IAmJericho is one of the most multi talented performers with which I've ever been associated. Without question, one has to assume that many doors were opened by Chris' performance on DWTS as it relates to potential, future gigs in 'Hollywood'. We're getting tons of emails and tweets @JRsBBQ asking when Jericho is coming back to WWE. I have heard nothing regarding this matter from any one in any official capacity. I do think that Chris will likely have another run in WWE but whether it is this year or next is completely Chris and the WWE's call. The day Jericho returns he will zoom up the ladder as arguably the most talented, all around grappler on the roster at this time.

Chris Jericho gives strong hint that a WWE return is iminent

Chris Jericho indicated to wrestling fans in a video message that he will be returning to WWE following his run on Dancing with the Stars.
"When I come back to WWE when this show is done, we can continue right where we picked off. You can boo and cheer and yell," Jericho stated.
Jericho is asking that WWE Universe members pay him back for his many years of entertaining audiences and putting his body on the line by continuing to vote for him on Dancing with the Stars. He says the longer he stays on the program, the better it is for the entire WWE Universe.
"I'm taking this universe into places we haven't been," Jericho said. "Twenty-three million people watch Dancing with the Stars every week. The Tonight Show, Rachael Ray, Ellen, all these people are starting to understand what it is that we do as WWE Superstars and why the WWE Universe is so loyal.
"I think it's very important to remember, it's not just me I'm representing. I'm a pioneer, an ambassador for WWE on this show. Continue to vote for me."
Jericho's next performance takes place Monday. He is among the show's final eight contestants.

Superstar Bill Graham wants out of the WWE HOF!

WWE Hall of Famer "Superstar" Billy Graham recently spoke to Slam Wrestling and said that he wants out of WWE's Hall. Here are some highlights from the man that once sold his WWE HOF ring on Ebay:

The WWE Hall of Fame:

"For the WWE to induct into their Hall of Fame, Abdullah The Butcher, who has never wrestled one match under a WWE contract, is bordering on blasphemy. I am demanding that this company remove my name from their index of Hall of Fame wrestlers. It is a shameless organization to induct a bloodthirsty animal such as Abdullah The Butcher into their worthless and embarrassing Hall of Fame and I want the name of Superstar Billy Graham to be no part of it. The WWE and their Hall of Fame is disgustingly embarrassing, I want out."

Words for Chris Jericho after Jericho's comments in his new book:

"Jericho, that shows your complete lack of respect. You have the face of a choirboy, but you've got the heart of a devil. One day, someone will walk across your skull on the floor of hell. That's exactly where you belong. I'm a music fan, a fan of Bob Dylan. The lyrics to one of his songs, Idiot Wind, fits you perfectly, Jericho. 'Idiot wind blowing every time you move your teeth. You're an idiot (babe). It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.' I know what I'm talking about when it comes to steroids. Unfortunately, I'm an expert. I started using in 1966. I told NBC News that the Benoit murder-suicide was not as a result of steroids. I responded to a man choking an innocent seven-year-old boy to death, then murdering his wife. It was the slaughter of an innocent child and steroids had nothing to do with it. The press connected it to steroids and I had an obligation to speak out.

For speaking out, Jericho called me self-centered and egotistical, only wanting to benefit myself. I received a personal phone call from Linda McMahon thanking me for stepping it up and telling it like it is. Jericho, you have made a huge mistake. You call me an egotistical idiot. If you walked by right now, I would beat the living hell out of you, then spit on your grave for trying to destroy my reputation in your phony little book."

Kofi Kingston DVD Review - Boom, Boom, Boom, WWE Magazine Freebie 2011

WWE Special DVD Review: Kofi Kingston - Boom, Boom, Boom.

By Phil Allely

As a special bonus for WWE magazine readers this DVD was included in the April edition of the UK version. Featuring a nice snapshot of the  career to date of high-flying young WWE superstar Kofi Kingston, the single disc takes in three of the exciting young grapplers best matches to date.

Match quality wise things are perfectly placed here as Kofi introduces each match and explains the build up to it and its repercussions on his future career. Kicking things off we have a match that came very soon after Kingston’s WWE debut and it is for the Intercontinental Title, this battle with Chris Jericho (at Night of the Champions 2008) is a really great way to start things off and is genuinely enjoyable viewing, it also see’s Kofi raise his first ever WWE title belt

Next up we have a fun and inviting encounter with The Miz at Breaking Point 2009, where Miz and Kingston embark on a nice looking  marathon of near falls, high risk moves and thrilling encounters.

Finally it’s the turn of Randy Orton to face off against Mr Boom Drop. This match from TLC 2009 has it all and you really do side with the fan favourite Kingston throughout. Orton does his bit to make the match a near classic and Orton’s skills ensure that Kingston looks like a star as well.

Kingston makes for an amiable host during this one hour plus special release, he provides the links in a natural and nicely out of character style. It’s nice to see the real Kofi come out and to hear how he feels about his WWE tenure to date and his past in-ring exploits as well.  We get to see some amateur footage of him, hear a few road stories and even see his own home and personal merchandise collection.

This DVD may not be the most in depth profile of a WWE superstar, but It is a perfect example of how to put everything into one clear and concise place when it comes to putting together a character profile concept.  I am sure Mr Kingston will indeed find himself the subject of a more extensive release soon, considering his rapid ascent through the ranks and his talent for picking up titles as well.

WWE magazine with this free DVD is on sale at all good newsagents now.

Chris Jericho New WWE Interview Highlights

After teasing last week that he'd be returning to WWE television on Friday's SmackDown, former WWE star Chris Jericho was featured in a video package hyping his appearance on the upcoming season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars.

The WWE website has published a new interview with Jericho, which you can read on their website in its entirety. During the piece, Jericho said he plans to make a full-time return to WWE when he can be 100% committed to the company.

"One of the reasons I’m not in WWE now is DWTS," Jericho said. "You have to be 100 percent physically and mentally devoted to one or the other. You can’t do both. I’m sure I’ll be back. I have to return to WWE to take my persona back."

Jericho clarified what he meant by "taking his persona back" - and took a few shots at WWE champion The Miz.

"I watched Raw on Monday and felt like I was having an out of body experience. I was watching myself on live TV! Then I realized I hadn’t gotten that ugly and become that bad of a wrestler and realized I was actually watching the current WWE Champion, The Miz."

The video package that aired on SmackDown featured footage of Jericho and his DWTS partner Cheryl Burke practicing for the upcoming season, which premieres on Monday night

New Chris Jericho Interview - Highlights

Chris Jericho recently spoke with Sport.co.uk. Here are some of the highlights:

Your sharply-dressed, serious, best-in-the-world character was something we hadn’t seen for a while, but now everyone seems to be using the same gimmick.

I think, subtly, that’s how they’ve been told to represent themselves. If you look back at 2008, then no-one was doing it. There were no suits and slow talking, it was all about that very intense style. Now almost all of the heels in the WWE are doing what I did. I think it’s a testament to me. I didn’t create it completely, but at that the time no-one else was doing that. It’s a pat on the back and I’d rather be a leader than a follower, but it also tells me that when the road leads me to come back to the WWE, if and when that happens, I’ll have to come up with something completely different all over again.

If and when you return to the WWE, having achieved so much, what would your goals be?

I don’t have any goals left. If I never wrestled again, I’d be happy. But at this point, I enjoy doing it. It’s different from 2005 when I was disheartened, this time it’s because I have all of these other things going on. I’m still a big fan, I still enjoy watching and if I came back I’d like to do what I was doing for the last three years and that’s performing to the best of my abilities and ensure that I’m doing something different that the fans don’t usually see. I’ve always prided myself on that. I always have ideas and thoughts and when you’re creative you get on a roll, get these ideas and think ‘I could do that’.

Who are your sympathies with in the recent war of words between The Rock and John Cena?

I would not like to go face to face with The Rock in any way, unless I was a stone cold heel – no pun intended. One of the reasons Rock and I had such great chemistry is that I was a perfect foil for him, but in a babyface versus babyface war, I don’t know whether I’d want to go toe-to-toe with him in any situation like that. I don’t sympathize with John though, because I think he’ll be looking forward to the challenge. Just because I said I wouldn’t like to go toe-to-toe with him doesn’t mean to say that he wouldn’t so I’m sure John’s salivating at the chance to show what he can do and who knows, maybe he’ll surprise people and blow The Rock away. That’s part of the excitement of it and it’s going to be great. John needs to be challenged, and that’s the thing and there’s not a better challenge in the business than going up against The Rock on the mic.

Chris Jericho Lets Rip On TNA

Chris Jericho appeared on the Live Audio Wrestling radio show over the weekend and ripped apart TNA for the lame "3/3/11" video that aired at the end of last week's iMPACT. TNA had hyped the "most shocking moment of the year" - and delivered a weak ripoff of WWE's recent 2/21/11 videos. Here's what Jericho said about the 3/3/11 video and why its a perfect example of whats wrong with TNA:

'It drives me nuts and I'll tell you the reason why. I am the biggest fan of TNA as a concept. I want them to be huge, Vince wants them to be huge because the more competition there is, it's better for the business, it's better for the boys, it's better is for the fans. I don't understand their obsession with copying the WWE I think it's lame, I think its bush league and I don't get it, they have some of the best talent, some great idea men. Why do they do this? Why do their guys go out there and say 'When I was in the WWE I was left behind and I was held back'."

"If I was working for TNA I would project that it's the greatest wrestling company in the world because if you're not projecting it, why is anyone going to believe it? When we were in ECW it was small, I never made more than $250 a show but you would die for that company and when you came across that way, the fans came across that way and suddenly you have this underground revolution going on and it was real, it was a revolution, people believed it was the best. No one in TNA believes they are in the best company and if they don't believe it then why am I going to believe it as a fan? Why am I going to buy their product?"

"It's just so bush league, they can do better than that and the guys on top there should know better and it really makes me mad because they're wasting money and they don't have to be wasting money but I'm not burying TNA I'm saying you should be ashamed of yourself because you can do better.

Chrish Jericho Interview Highlights

Triple H taking over WWE:

"He's going to take over the company. This isn't the year 2000 anymore where he was trying to bury me. Nobody wants to be Bruce Hart, where he takes over Stampede Wrestling and goes out of business two years later after his father had it for 40 years."

Returning to WWE:

"It could be two days down the road. I'm still a huge fan of the business. When it's time to go back, I'll go back."

Favoring a PG-13 product:

"I think I did better in the PG-13 environment. It's easier to get pops when you say, 'ass.' they're going 'tee-hee-hee, he said a swear word.' I wasn't really doing any swearing. I just go with the flow. If I have to do an X-rated environment, I'll do that. And if it's PG, I'll do that."

Chris Jericho New Interview

Over the past week, there has been plenty of talk that former WWE Champion and now two-time New York Times best-selling author Chris Jericho will be making a big announcement regarding his future soon.

Maybe it's just coincidence but USA Today wrote on Monday that Jericho's name has come up as a possible contestant in the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars." The cast for the show will be revealed any time now.

Jericho was asked if he will be on the hit ABC show Monday morning on the "Open Mike" radio show on 740 The Game in Orlando, Fla., as part of an interview promoting his second autobiography "Undisputed."

"People keep asking me that and they also keep asking me if I'm going to be the lead singer of Velvet Revolver," Jericho said. "Neither one of those things is what my announcement is. It would be nice to do either or but that's not what I'm thinking about when I'm talking about my announcement."

Instead, Jericho alluded to his announcement having something to do with his rock band Fozzy.

"I've been threatening this announcement for about three weeks now. It's basically something to do with what's going on this summer. I kind of alluded to it ... a couple of big shows we're hoping to get confirmation on pretty soon."

Those shows are several big traditional festivals in Europe which he and his bandmates would enjoy being a part of.

The one thing he did not definitively say was that he would not be a part of "Dancing With the Stars," only that his big announcement did not have to deal with that show.

Jericho has previously said that that he turned down the reality show before because it interfered with his WWE schedule. That's not a problem right now since he is out of wrestling for the time being.

The one thing that can be almost certain is that his announcement will not be a return to the WWE in time for WrestleMania 27.

"Yeah, it would be great to be a part of it. But I think at this point in time with all the guys that are coming back ... The Rock came back and obviously Triple H will be back soon and probably The Undertaker. All these guys are returning and so it's better for me not to be there and get lost in the shuffle of everybody that comes back and all the hoopla of WrestleMania."

I would like to introduce someone for his record breaking 5th appearance on the Main Event…he is a 2 time interview of the year winner…he is the Ayatollah of Rock N’ Rolla with his band Fozzy…the first ever WWE Undisputed world champion…his new book titled Undisputed is in stores everywhere now…he is froot…he has travelled the world countless times and lives to tell his tales…let me present, Chris Jericho, welcome back into the Main Event!!

1) Well of course you’ve got your brand new book, Undisputed, which as mentioned is in stores everywhere now. How did writing this book differ from your first one, the New York Times Bestseller, A Lion’s Tale?

Undisputed is now officially a New York Times Bestseller. It is very gratifying. It takes a lot of time to write a book; it took a year and a half to get it how I wanted it. It feels good. Many times when you do something for the first time it’s always unchartered waters. You don’t really know how to do it, where to go. Now that I have one under my belt, I kind of knew the shortcuts but it’s a long arduous process. That will never change. This time I had more experience, more knowledge. It probably went by a little bit quicker because of my experience with the first one. If you’re going to do it right – for both of these books I wrote every word that you see. Everybody seems to like it, it’s being critically acclaimed. This is the type of buzz that you want.

2) One of the things I was surprised about in the early part of the book was the amount of heat that you had coming into WWE. The “tobacco spit” incident with the Rock… why do you think that the rock never laid into you for it and has that subject ever come back up in a conversation with rocky?

He remembers it, of course he does. What happened was it was the first match I ever had against The Rock. I did have a lot of animosity and uphill battles when I first got to WWE. I picked up a cup from the floor but when I threw it in the Rock’s face it wasn’t beer or soda, it was tobacco spit juice. He was really freaking out, it went in his eyes. He never really did nuts on me about it. I think because he kind of emphasized with me about it because he came in with a lot of animosity coming in. He kind of had the same thing when he was first coming in – he got a big push coming in, a lot of people didn’t like him. He got a really big push right off the bat and people didn’t like him. The cream always rises to the top. He was my only ally when I first got there in 1999.

3) You seem to be your own biggest critic throughout both of your books. Do you ever feel that you are a bit too harsh on yourself?

It’s one of the reasons I’m always successful in everything I’ve done. I’ve never settled for anything. I’ve always wanted better. I always want it perfect, but nothing could ever be perfect. It makes you strive for that. It makes you create better moments in wrestling, or in music, or in writing. As an artist you always want to get better. Every time you sit back and think “I am the best in the world at what I do”, but if you believe that all the time then you’re living in denial. That’s something that people appreciate in both my books is that I’m always very honest. When something didn’t work out the way I wanted it to work out I had no problems bringing it up and facing it. It makes for great stories and great writing no matter what the situation might be. I think Undisputed overall is a better book than A Lion’s Tale because it is just as funny, just as honest but it a lot deeper because of all the experiences I went through during the time period I wrote about. The first book is written from a guy in his 20′s with a frivolous and fancy free type of vibe. Things in life hit you in different ways. Mature experiences, grown up experiences seen from a guy in his 30′s sees it in a different vibe; but still very funny, very entertaining. A good movie will take you through an emotional roller coaster. That’s what Undisputed does.

4) Numerous times in the book you state that it is a shame that many of your classic matches are buried and technically do not exist anymore. Do you think that WWE should acknowledge the matches that you had with Chris Benoit?

I don’t really want to watch them. I don’t think I would get the same enjoyment or vibe from them after all that’s happened. I don’t blame Vince for now using them because he [Benoit] did a lot to damage the industry. It’s not a shame that they’re not shown; it’s a shame because of what happened. I would feel very uncomfortable at this point, maybe in the future, but not right now.

5) Wrestlemania X8. You got 1/5 of what your opponent HHH got paid for the event. I heard that Hogan wasn’t happy with his pay at the event either compared to what he got in the old days of Wrestlemania. Why, when you were the champion, did they book you so atrociously as Steph’s lackey and then sent you a low-end paycheck?

One didn’t have anything to do with the other. You can read the whole story in the book. It was my idea but the other part of the story where Stephanie and I were having an affair was left out. Then I would end up being pu###-whipped by her. People in the crowd always know someone who meets a girl and then you never see the guy again. Next thing you know the guy is wearing the same clothes as her, likes the same music as her. I thought it would be really good. Vince liked that part of it but not the other part of it. I was basically pu### whipped without the pu###. IMO I wasn’t really quite ready for it. It wouldn’t be booked like that the other 5 championship reigns I had. But at the time I was just trying to keep my head above the water and be a good soldier. This made for great stories in the book. Just because you’re the world champion doesn’t mean you’re the best. That was the problem at the time, I wasn’t the best guy in the company even though I was the champion. And that was the problem. You learn and get better as a performer. I had a better repore with Vince, with the performers. You get better with age. And that’s the way it should be. Whether you’re a performer, a soldier, a computer programmer, or the President of the United States, as you get more experience you get better overall.

7) Speaking of booking…you make a jab at TNA’s booking in your book. You also posted some tweets on your Twitter page (quote: After 10 yrs TNA talent still have an inferiority complex. If u don’t think that u work for the BEST COMPANY EVER then nobody else will! As a performer u hav to act and project that where u work is the pinnacle of competition! If not then the whole place just seems second rate)…What advice do you have for them?

When we worked in ECW it was a small company, I wasn’t making more than $250 a match, but you believed in that company. You believed you were better than WWE or WCW. When you believed it, the fans believed it. There were people there who would die for the company. That’s how you gain fans. If you don’t have the confidence in yourselves. If I’m watching something where they basically say we’re #2, and always talking about #1. Then why would I watch #2? I would just switch the channel to #1. If you work somewhere, you need to project that this is the best place in the world. Otherwise then why are you there, why are you wasting your time being there? I want TNA to grow as a company, it’s better for me as a performer and me as a businessman. But how can they grow if every chance they get they are constantly talking about up north and the WWF? When I was up north everything was against me and now I’m the champion. Well that makes you look bad. If I was working for TNA I would say that this is the best company in the world and this is where the best competition is. And leave it at that. If you don’t believe that then you shouldn’t be on TV working there.

8) What is the status of your wrestling career right now? I assume that you plan to come back down the line, but will this be sooner or later?

I left the WWE in September to tour with Fozzy. We have a lot of momentum behind us. We’ve been to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Australia, Canada, we just did a show in Los Angeles a few weeks ago which was cool. When I was a kid I had two dreams: to be a wrestling and to be a rock star. I’m not sure what’s going to happen with wrestling. When the time comes, if I feel like I’m ready to go back and that I’m going to be able to reinvent myself and do something better. Roll the dice, who knows. In 2005, I knew that I might have never came back, I was really burned out on wrestling. I knew that if I came back I wanted to be better than ever. This last time I wasn’t burned out, I just had other projects. I’m still a big fan of the product. Whatever happens, happens. I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve never contained myself within the wrestling box. I have a lot of projects that are very successful that I need to spend time on. A lot of people get mad at me by that but that’s what Chris Jericho has always been. If my name is on it then it is the very best that I can possibly do. In the WWE, if I was there right now I would not be 100%. And you can’t be that way when you’re working there, you have to be 100% committed. If not, step aside and let someone else take over that is.

You’re going to have to wait until Book #3. Undisputed ends when I return to the WWE in 2007. There is already 3 ½ years of material including the 3 best years of my career. Undisputed is going to do even better than A Lion’s Tale. There is no reason to not do #3. The material I have for #3 is just as good as the first 2. I still have a few years to go before I write but I would definitely like to write another one. But it is not about the numbers, it is about the quality. If I don’t think it would be as good, I won’t do it.
