His thoughts about Ring of Honor’s first TV tapings for the Sinclair Broadcast Group, the level of excitement for ROH’s debut on SBG this fall, & why people will be surprised at what they see from the Ring of Honor product beginning on September 24th:
“It only seems like a couple of days ago, because I’ve slept about twice since then. This wrestling show, and I should emphasize this wrestling show, I’m so excited about it. It’s going to be so different and look so different from anything else on the air. We had a lot of guys in their 20′s & 30′s who work there (at Sinclair) walk past the edit suites as we were editing, and they would stop & look. To paraphrase, they said ‘Wow, this is the kind of wrestling we would like if it wasn’t so silly.’ That’s why people are going to be so pleasantly surprised with this product. It’s a great television program, and it’s different from the other programs, because they are sports-entertainment programs. We’re going to treat wrestling as a serious competition. We have great athletes, and we are going to showcase that. We are going to tell their stories, and we are not going to make any up for them.”
His reaction to those fans that are upset that Davey Richards will not be defending the ROH World Title at Ring of Honor’s next iPPV, “Death Before Dishonor IX,” on September 17th in New York City:
“There are a number of matches that are going to knock the socks off of people, and truthfully I don’t want to give out any scoops, but I know we did talk about the Eddie Edwards & Roderick Strong ‘Ringmaster’s Challenge’ Match, which is going to be fantastic & off the charts. And a lot people went ‘Oh Davey (Richards) is going to Japan…oh my god.’ The reason quite simply is we encouraged Davey to go to Japan, because he has something great lined up over there. With the television taping having a title match, we couldn’t have a title match on September 17th anyway, so we gave Davey the opportunity to go to Japan. The match between Eddie & Roddy (Strong) will determine his challenger when he comes back.”
Whether or not he and/or the ROH office/locker room would have interest in Matt Hardy coming to Ring of Honor, now that Matt has been released by TNA:
“I’ve known Matt & Jeff since they started in the business, when Matt was 18 and Jeff was 16. They used to come to the WWE TV tapings in the Carolinas. I like those guys, and they have been tremendous stars, but A.) I don’t know if their salary expectations fit in with Ring of Honor’s budgetary limitations and B.) I haven’t talked to these guys, and I don’t know what their side of the story is, but there always seems to be controversy swirling around The Hardys right now. I believe Ring of Honor would once again take the standpoint that we are going to try & find the young undeveloped talent and expose them to the world, rather than to look to be the place where people come to have a warm place to curl up when they leave the big leagues.”

Lanny Poffo Interview Highlights
Lanny Poffo recently participated in an interview with SLAM! Wrestling to address his late brother, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, as well as his own lengthy career in sports entertainment.
Poffo is asked whether WWE reached out to Randy for induction into their Hall of Fame and what his feelings were on the matter.
“Yes, we talked about it,” Poffo said. “As a matter of fact, what he was, remember when the Von Erichs got into the Hall of Fame? That was the first time he’d mentioned it, and my father was still alive. We celebrated his birthday, and at this point my father was coherent. He says, ‘The Von Erichs are in the Hall of Fame? I’m not going in, ever, into the Hall of Fame unless it’s the Poffos, Lanny, Randy and Angelo.’ That’s what he said. We didn’t cremate him against his wishes and we’re not going to go into the Hall of Fame against his wishes either.”
Poffo also commented on WWE releasing several products featuring Randy.
“I think it’s fantastic,” he said. “Did you see the interview he made for the Mattel dolls? He said, ‘It looks just like me, not now, but then.’ He got a big pop at the ComicCon with his video when he made that self-deprecatory joke. I thought it was phenomenal. He made a joke about himself that he didn’t look like that anymore.”

WWE DVD Review – Extreme Rules 2011

Extreme Rules 2011 may have seemed like your usual run of the mill stipulation heavy pay-per-view event, but it was an awful lot more than that. This was the event where we were guaranteed a new World Heavyweight Champion (after Edge’s sudden retirement due to injury), the newly vacated belt being fought for under ladder match rules between Christian and Alberto Del Rio.
This was a historic night in other areas too, whilst Del Rio and Christian battled for their respective brands gold using steel ladders, John Cena, John Morrison and The Miz took their three-way scrap for the WWE Championship into the confines of a steel cage. Elsewhere Randy Orton and CM Punk took their war to new levels with a brutal Last Man Standing encounter that bettered their WrestleMania effort.
These three match-ups are well worth watching for their innovative, exciting and hard-hitting action, but they are in good company too. Kofi Kingston versus Sheamus for the United States Championship proved to be a thoroughly decent Tables bout. The Country Whipping Match between the teams of Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler/Jim Ross and Michael Cole/Jack Swagger lived up to expectations (just). Rey Mysterio’s Falls Count Anywhere brawl with Cody Rhodes proved to be far better than expected, considering Mysterio’s collective injuries this was indeed impressive. The Layla and Michelle McCool Loser Leaves WWE match was well planned, short and worked to meet its ends. The only shortcoming being the Kane/Big Show versus Wade Barrett/Ezekiel Jackson Lumberjack Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship, this could have been good if given enough time to build.
Extreme Rules was a well above average PPV event, the stipulations worked well in the whole, the Del Rio and Christian match gave the fans just what they wished for, the Lawler/Ross & Cole/Swagger bout rounded that feud off to a degree and the LayCool Diva scrap saw us bid farewell to one of the WWE’s most recent female success stories.
This DVD fully showcases Extreme Rules as the success it was, there were some decent matches, storylines continued and some feuds ended in style. The crowning of a new champion (or two)and some surprises to boot.
On the extras front we have an interview the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Divas Respond to a Negative WWE Magazine Article
The official WWE website posted a pseudo-shoot article Sunday asking whether the Divas division needs saving from “model” talent such as Kelly Kelly and whether Beth Phoenix and Natalya, the “Divas of Doom,” can be the ones to do it.
Katie Raymond, the author of the article, wrote: “Stinkfaces. Booty poppin’. If you’re a purist about a woman’s place inside the WWE ring, you must be wondering what Fabulous Moolah is thinking looking down on the Divas division. Would the iconic figure chalk up the current flux of the division on changing times, or would she say, “Someone needs to save this”?
“Beth Phoenix and Natalya, the “Divas of Doom,” think so. However, are The Glamazon and third-generation Diva just the two women to call “saviors”?
“First, Brie Bella wins the Divas Championship. Diva purists cringed. Then, Kelly Kelly – who has improved markedly inside the ring – netted the butterfly title. Diva purists started pointing fingers and lashing out. This can’t be happening. Not in a division that has seen the likes of Moolah, Trish Stratus, Lita and Melina bear the Women’s Title. How are these “model” Divas getting their names etched in the history books? Do only “pretty faces” matter?”

Goldberg interview highlights
Goldberg disses McMahon

Former world heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg has slammed his former boss Vince McMahon in a recent TV interview.
Whilst attending an MMA event at the Hard Rock Casino in Oklahoma the former WWE/WCW star made his thoughts very clear about McMahon when asked about the WWE chairman’s persona and how intimidating he is in real life.
Goldberg responded to the local Fox station’s question with the following statement "I can't really say anything positive about the man, it's like working for a carny who's driven only by his ego. Business is out the window, as evidence by what he did with my character. I don't have anything positive to say about the man."
Goldberg is on record as not being a fan of McMahon or his stint with the WWE. His successful (in WCW) monster character was famously buried within the WWE structure and his world title run proved to be unspectacular. His one year contract ending with a whimper as he and Brock Lesnar were let go form their contracts to little response.
Rumour has it that Goldberg will step back into the ring this coming October as part of an event in Africa alongside fellow former WWE/TNA stars. Although he has to yet to fully confirm this Bill has already filmed a preview piece for the appearance.
