The Rock to Portray a Country Music Star in New Biopic

The Rock Takes Pride in a Role

By Phil Allely

Wrestlemania Host and main event attraction for next year’s event Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnston is set to portray legendary country music singer Charley Pride in a new movie chronicling his life.

The movie has been in development for several years, now it has been green lit with Johnson as lead actor and producer.

In a recent interview Charley himself discussed the surprise signing of the wrestler/actor. "Now it's back on track again, but with action and comedy star Dwayne Johnson portraying me in the title role,". "Terrence (Howard the original choice for the lead) is no doubt a more in-depth actor academically, but Dwayne is such a force on screen. It startled me a little at first, but he flew down to Dallas and spent a day with me just sitting, talking recently. When he left it was like parting with an old friend. We had such similar views on so many things."

There is no word on when the movie will begin shooting, but this alongside recent outing for Johnson in fast Five, Tooth fairy and other high profile movies, alongside his personal appearance certainly proves there is life after wrestling.

The Rock will of course be making more WWE appearance in the lead up to his highly anticipated match with John Cena at next years WrestleMania.
